What should I do if I am soon to be admitted to the hospital?

Do you have to undergo surgery and has a hospitalisation been scheduled? Declare your admission to Vanbreda in time. This can easily be done via the Vanbreda app or via the form on the website.

Report your admission

Are you going to be admitted to the hospital soon? Notify Vanbreda as soon as possible in order to make use of the Medi-Link third-party payment scheme.

Vanbreda processes your declaration

We will process your declaration on the basis of your policy conditions.

After you have indicated your admission, you will receive a message from us with the status of your declaration. There are three possible scenarios:

Your declaration was accepted

Vanbreda confirms that your hospitalisation is covered by your insurance. You will receive a confirmation together with a 010 number. This allows you to make use of the Medi-Link third-party payment scheme. On the day of your admission, you must give this 010 number to the reception desk of the hospital.

Your declaration is incomplete

Vanbreda will ask you for additional information in order to be able to process your file. In order to be able to make use of the Medi-Link third-party payment scheme, you must provide us with this information at least 7 days before your admission. Then we'll let you know if your declaration was accepted.

Your declaration has been denied

Vanbreda believes that your hospitalisation is not covered by your insurance. In that case, you pay the hospital invoice yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Which invoices does Vanbreda pay directly to the hospital?

Only your hospital bill (day admission or overnight stay) is covered by the third party payment scheme. We then pay your hospitalisation invoice directly to the hospital, on condition that the declaration of your admission has been accepted via Med-Link, and that the 010 number has been correctly linked to the file at the time of your admission.

What is the pre-post period?

Hospitalisation often involves other costs that you do not incur during the hospitalisation itself, but which are related to it. For example, medication, visits to a specialised doctor, physiotherapy or medical examinations before or after your admission.

The hospital is asking for a 010 number. What is that?

Did you report your hospitalisation? Then we will send you a confirmation that your file has been accepted, and you will receive a 010 number from us. You can use this 010 number when you log in at the reception desk of the hospital.
